Joe Zapusta, who had a brief appearance in the major leagues, died on Jan. 4, 2001 in Randolph, Mass.

He pitched in two games in the outfield for the Philadelphia Athletics in 1933. He collected a single hit in 5 at-bats.

Zapustus also played professional football. He appeared in the NFL in 1933, playing in two games and catching a 26-yard pass for the New York Giants.
