Adrian Zabala found success as a pitcher in Cuba, but only limited effectiveness in his career in the major leagues.

Born in Cuba in 1916, Zabala, a member of Cuba's Baseball Hall of Fame, pitched in two seasons in Major League Baseball -- 1945 and 1949, both with the Giants. His career totals include a 4-7 record in 26 games. He pitched 84.1 innings for the Giants and finished with a 5.02 ERA. After his appearances in American professional baseball, he returned to Cuba where he continued to play until his retirement in 1956.

He moved to Jacksonville where he had lived until his death in 2002.

His son played baseball for the University of Florida and was drafted by the Cleveland Indians.  An arm injury, however, sidelined his career in the minor leagues.
