Jerry Witte, who played 52 games in the major leagues as a first baseman for the St. Louis Browns, died April 27, 2002 at the age of 86.
Witte hit 4 home runs in 172 Major League at-bats in 1946 and 1947. His credits include a 50-HR season with the Houston Buffaloes of the Texas League in 1949. He also hit 38 home runs for Houston in 1951.
