Charlie Wilson, born in Clinton, South Carolina, appeared in 56 games over four seasons in the major leagues.  In 1931, Wilson hit 1 home run and drove in 11 runs for the Boston Braves.

Wilson supposedly earned the nickname, Swamp Baby, after he initiated a "prank" that flooded a baseball field so that he could get a day off.  This prank was immortalized in the film, "Bull Durham."
