Charlie Wagner, who pitched for the Boston Red Sox for six seasons, died on Aug. 30, 2006 in Reading, Penn.

Wagner's career numbers include a 32-23 record and a 3.91 ERA in 527.2 innings pitched. His best season came in 1942 when he posted a 14-11 record and a 3.29 ERA in 205.1 innings pitched.

He left the Red Sox to serve in the Navy during World War II and made a brief return to the team in 1946. He pitched his final game in the majors on Aug. 8, 1946.

He worked as a scout, coach and special instructor for the Boston Red Sox following his career as a player.
