Betty Trezza, a player in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League for six seasons, died on Jan. 16, 2007 following a heart attack. She was 81.
According to news reports, she played shortstop, second base and outfield. Her career started with the Minneapolis Millerettes when she was just 17 years old. The team was replaced by the Fort Wayne Daisies. She also played briefly for the South Bend Blue Sox and spent the final five seasons of her career with the Racine Belles.
She hit the game-winning single in the 1946 championship series against the Rockford Peaches, according to published reports.
Following her playing career, she worked as a supervisor at Pfizer Inc.
