The older brother of Marv Thorneberry, Faye appeared in 521 games in the major leagues. He hit .236 in his career with 29 home runs and 137 runs batted in. His most productive season came in 1959 with Washington when he hit .251 in 327 at-bats with 10 home runs and 42 RBI. On May 4, 1952, he hit a grand slam off Early Wynn who also died in 1999. |
