Erskine Thomason, a native of Laurens, South Carolina, appeared in 1 inning of 1 game in the major leagues. In 1974, at the age of 25, Thomason gave up no runs or hits in 1 inning and collected 1 strikeout for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Thomason pitched for Erskine College and is tied for the Erskine record for most strikeouts in a game. In 1970, Thomason struck out 18 batters in a game against Wofford. That year, Thomason earned an honorable mention for NAIA All-American. Two other former Erskine players have appeared in Major League Baseball - Jim Fairey and Eric Moody.

As a member of the Reading Phillies in 1973, Thomason won 12 games, compiled a 3.20 earned run average and compiled 149 strikeouts.
