Ray Stoviak, an outfielder who was hitless in 10 at-bats in the major leagues, died on Feb. 23, 1998 in Nicoya, Costa Rica.
Prior to appearing in the majors, Stoviak was a standout outfielder for Villanova.
Stoviak debuted on June 5, 1938 with the Phillies and was hitless in 10 at-bats in 10 games. He scored a run.
Following his career in baseball, Stoviak was a baseball
and football coach at the high school level before working as a college
assistant coach in football.
