Bill Sodd, who was hitless in a single at-bat, died on May 14, 1998 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Sodd was 22 years old when he appeared in a single game for the Cleveland Indians on Sept. 27, 1937. He struck out in his only appearance in the major leagues.
Sodd served in the Army in World War II. He later worked for an aircraft company and was also the owner of six supermarkets in Fort Worth.
