Dwain C. "Lefty" Sloat, who pitched in the major leagues in the 1940s, died on April 18, 2003.

 Sloat finished his professional career with an 0-1 record in 9 games in the major leagues. He pitched a combined 16.1 innings with 4 strikeouts.

In 1947, Sloat won 17 games for Fort Worth of the Texas League and led the league with 162 strikeouts and a 1.99 ERA. He opened the season with Brooklyn in 1948, but returned to Fort Worth after appearing in 4 major league games. He won 10 games for Fort Worth that season.

In 1949, he appeared in 5 games with the Cubs.

According to his obituary, Sloat also played for the St. Paul Saints.

He was a one-time employee of Hamms-Pabst Brewery and he was a veteran of World War II.
