Si Simmons

Si Simmons, who pitched in the Negro Leagues, died on Oct. 29, 2006, in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was 111 years old.

His playing career began in 1911 and it would include stops on the New York Lincoln Giants and the Cuban Stars.

His baseball career ended after the 1929 season. He worked as a porter and later as an assistant manager at a department store.
