Minnie Rojas, a reliever for the California Angels from 1966 to 1968, died March 24, 2002 from complications of pneumonia.
In 1967, Rojas finished with 27 saves to lead the American League. He also set an Angels franchise record that was broken in 1985 when Donnie Moore collected 31 saves.
Rojas was born in Cuba and collected 43 career saves in 157 games over three seasons. His career ended after the 1968 season when he was paralyzed in an automobile accident. The accident killed his two daughters, but his wife and son survived.
