Marv Rackley, an outfielder from Seneca, South Carolina, played in parts of five season in the major leagues. In 1948, Rackley played in 88 games for the Dodgers in 1948 and finished with 15 runs batted in and 8 stolen bases and a .327 average.

In 1946, Rackley was a teammate of Jackie Robinson when the two played for the Montreal minor league team. Stories tell of how Rackley and another player sat with Robinson when violence erupted after his appearance at a game in Baltimore.

During that season, Rackley stole 65 bases and led the International League with 14 triples. He batted .305 and drove in 66 runs.
