From 1950 to 1957, Tom Poholsky managed to pitch in the Majors for 6 seasons and serve in the Military for two years.

In 1950, while playing for Rochester, he was named Most Valuable Player in the International League. That season, he led the IL with a 2.17 ERA.  He made his Major League debut that season with the St. Louis Cardinals. He appeared in 5 games, pitching 14.2 innings.

In 1951, he pitched 195 innings for the Cardinals and finished with a 7-13 record. From 1952 to 1953, he was out of baseball, serving in the U.S. military.

In his career, Poholsky finished with a 31-52 record with 30 complete games, 316 strikeouts, and 104 starts in 159 games.
