Edward Charles Pellagrini

Eddie Pellagrini, who spent eight seasons in the major leagues, died on Oct. 11, 2006 in Weymouth, Mass. He was 88.
He hit .226 with 20 home runs and 133 RBIs in his eight-year major league career. His career included stops with Boston AL (1946-47), St. Louis AL (1948-49), Philadelphia NL (1951), Cincinnati (1952) and Pittsburgh (1953-54)
His most productive season came in 1951 with Philadelphia. He hit .234 with five home runs and 30 RBI in 197 at-bats.
Following his career in the major leagues, he became Boston College's baseball coach. He won 359 games between 1957 and 1988. The baseball diamond at the school was named in his honor.
