Billy Parker, who played parts of 3 seasons in the major leagues, died on Feb. 9, 2003.

Parker debuted on Sept. 8, 1971 with the Angels and hit a game-winning home run in his first game.

His professional career included stops in Quad City, Iowa, El Paso and Salt Lake City. The Salt Lake City Angels team he played for in 1971 won the Pacific Coast League title. Parker was named the league's All-Star team.

He played for the Angels until 1973 and his contract was purchased by the New York Yankees in 1974. Parker played for Syracuse until 1976.

Following his career in baseball, he worked in home construction and then worked with youth sports programs in Surprise, Arizona. The city of Surprise named its field as The Billy Parker Field in 2002.
