William Lawrence Mueller (who played as Bill Mueller) had a brief major league career in the 1940s with the Chicago White Sox.

He earned the nickname of "Hawk" for his all-out style of defense in the outfield.

His chance at a baseball career was put on hold from 1943-1945 as he served in the military.
