Dutch Meyer, who spent parts of 6 seasons in the major leagues as a second baseman, died on Jan. 19, 2003 in Fort Worth, Texas.

He debuted with the Cubs in a single game in 1937 and returned to the major leagues with Detroit in 1940. In 1945, he was traded along with Don Ross to the Indians and that became his only full season of action. Meyer hit .292 with 7 home runs and 48 RBIs for the Indians that season.
