Bill Merrill, a former broadcaster for the Texas Rangers, died on March 29, 2003 in Arlington, Texas, at the age of 79.
Merrill was calling the game on Sept. 22, 1977, when Bert Blyleven threw a no-hitter to give Texas a 6-0 win over California.
He became a member of the Texas broadcast team in 1974 and he was the play-by-play and color commentator until 1981.
