Mel McGaha, a former Major League manager, died on Feb. 3, 2002.
In his career, he posted a 123-173 record in three seasons in the majors.
In 1962, he managed the Cleveland Indians. The team finished 6th with a 78-82 record. He moved on to become the skipper of the Kansas City Athletics in 1964 and was fired by Charlie Finley in the 1965 season after a 5-21 start. He posted a record of 45-91 in his time in Kansas City.
Following his major league stints, he moved on to manage in the minors and to later become a coach with the Houston Astros.
