Orlando McFarlane, a catcher who played for Pittsburgh, Detroit and California, died on July 18, 2007 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. According to reports, he had been suffering from throat cancer.
McFarlane hit .240 in his major league career. His totals include five home runs and 20 RBI. His most productive season came in 1966 with Detroit when he hit .254 with five home runs and 13 RBI in 138 at bats.
He played for Pittsburgh (1962, 1964), Detroit (1966) and California (1967-68).
