George Maloney, who was a former Major League umpire, died on July 29, 2003, while he was traveling to observe Pioneer League umpires. He was 75.

He was an American League umpire from 1969-84 and worked the 1975 World Series, three league championship series and three All-Star games.

He was a minor league umpire from 1952-69 and he was the commissioner of the South Florida College Baseball Umpire Association from 1986-93.
