Mal Mallette, who pitched for Brooklyn in 1928, died on Nov. 25, 2005 in Durham, N.C. He was 83. According to newspaper reports, he died of heart failure.
He pitched 1.1 innings in two games. He recorded two strikeouts and allowed two hits and a walk in the games on Sept. 25 and Sept. 29 in 1950.
He spent 15 years in newspapers, including work as a reporter and managing editor. He work for 21 years at the American Press Institute until his retirement in 1987. In 2002, he was inducted into the N.C. Journalism Hall of Fame.
He graduated from Syracuse University.
