Charley Lupica

Died: Dec. 24, 2002

Charley Lupica, a Cleveland fan who set atop a flagpole platform for 117 days, died on Dec. 24, 2002, at the age of 90.

In 1949, Lupica set atop the pole to help rally the Cleveland Indians, winners of the 1948 World Series, to a second straight AL Pennant.  The team didn't repeat.
