Ad Liska, who won 17 games in his major league
career, edied on Nov. 30, 1998 in
Portland, Oregon. He was 92.
According to his obituary, Liska had been a teacher
in rural Nebraska schools while
he played semipro baseball. He signed with Burlington in 1927 and made his
debut
with Washington in 1929 at the age of 22.
He pitched in 111 career games and posted a 17-18
record in 351.1 innings pitched.
He finished his career with a 3.87 ERA and recorded 104 strikeouts.
His most productive season in the major leagues came in 1930 when he pitched 150.2 innings and finished with a 9-7 record and a save. He had a 3.29 ERA that season and had 71 strikeouts.
He pitched for Washington (1929-1931) and Philadelphia NL (1932-1933).
