John Leovich, a catcher who played in one game for the Philadelphia Athletics in 1941, died on Feb. 3, 2000 in Lincoln City, Oregon. He was 81.

Leovich played football and baseball for Oregon State. He lettered in football in 1939 and 1940 and in baseball in 1940.

He signed a contract with the Philadelphia Athletics and made his only appearance in the majors with Connie Mack's Athletics in 1941.

Following his baseball career, he owned and operated a restaurant in Lincoln City, Oregon.
