Roland Latina earned the colorful nickname of "The Glove Doctor" for his work as chief glove desiginer at Rawlings Sporting Goods.

Latina died on June 26, 2002 at the age of 78.

He worked for Rawlings for 39 years and was the designer of the closed-back glove with an index finger opening and the basket web.
