A standout football player at the University of Alabama, Al Lary set a number of school records as a wide receiver. He was the brother of Major Leaguer Frank Lary
A majority of Lary's career was spent in the minor leagues, but he did make appearances with the Chicago Cubs beginning in 1954. In 1955, he made appearances in four games a pinch runner.
Lary died as a result of accidental drowning in July 2001.
