Joe Lafata, who drove in 34 runs in his career in the major leagues, died on May 6, 2004 in Rossville, Mich. He was 82.

He hit .229 in his career with five home runs and 34 RBI. He collected 54 hits in 236 at-bats.

He debuted with the New York Giants in 1947, playing in 62 games that season. He hit .221 in 95 at-bats with two home runs and 18 RBI. He played in just one game for the Giants in 1948 and hit .236 in 140 at-bats with three home runs and 16 RBI.
