Newt Kimball pitched for parts of 6 seasons, but he only pitched more than 100 innings in his last season. That year, he split time between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies. 

Kimball pitched in 52 innings in 15 games for Brooklyn in 1941, registering a 3-1 record with a save and a 3.63 ERA.  From 1940-1943, he pitched 29 or more innings each season and posted an ERA before 3.85.

He was a player for the Las Vegas Wranglers, a minor league team, during a point in his career. He also was part of a trade in 1939 in which the Cubs sent Kimball and Gus Mancuso to the Brooklyn Dodgers for Al Todd.
