Eddie Kazak, whose promising career was sidetracked by injuries, died on Dec. 15, 1999 in Austin, Texas.

Kazak debuted with the Cardinals in 1948, appeared in 6 games. In 1949, the 28-year-old hit .304 in 326 at-bats with 6 home runs and 42 RBI.

The next season, he hit 5 home runs and drove in 23 run in 207 at-bats. However, he played sparingly in 1951 and 1952 for the Cardinals.

In May 1952, the Cardinals sent Kazak, along with Wally Westlake, to the Reds for Dick Sisler and Virgil Stallcup.

He appeared in 16 games with the Reds that season and did not appear again in the major leagues.
