Sherman Jones, who pitched in 48 games in three seasons in the major leagues, died on Feb. 21, 2007.
His career numbers include a 2-6 record with a 4.73 ERA in 110.1 innings pitched. He recorded three saves and 53 saves. Jones pitched for the Giants, Reds and Mets.
He pitched two-thirds of an inning in the 1961 World Series.
Following his career in baseball, Jones worked for the Kansas City Police department. From 1989 to 1992, he served as a representative in the Kansas legislature and, from 1993 to 2001, he served in the state senate.
