Lefty Hoerst Frank Joseph Hoerst Jr.

He was 10-33 in his Major League career with a 5.17 ERA. He started 41 games in his career and pitched 8 complete games. Hoerst made his major league with the Phillies in 1940 after serving in the Navy. His career was also interrupted when he returned to serve in the Navy during World War II. He played basketball for LaSalle College in the 1930s and was the team's captain and leading scorer. He is a member of LaSalle's Hall of Athletes. He made his debut with the Phillies in 1940 after serving in the Navy. Following his major league career, he was the baseball coach at LaSalle and his teams posted a 44-34-1 record.
