Randy Heflin, who pitched to a 4-11 record in the major leagues, died on Aug. 17, 1999 in Fredericksburg, Va.
He was 26 years old when he debuted with the Red Sox in 1945. That season, he finished with a 4-10 record and a 4.06 ERA in 102 innings.
In 1946, he pitched 14.2 innings for Boston, posting a 0-1 record with a 2.45 ERA.
