Gene Hasson, who hit .293 in 167 major league at-bats, died on July 30, 2003 in Pomona, Calif.

Hasson debuted with the Philadelphia Athletics on Sept. 9, 1937. The first baseman hit 3 home runs in 98 at-bats that season.

He was back in the majors in 1938, hitting .275 with a home run and 12 RBI.
