Jim Hamilton

Died: May 4, 2003 in Oneonta, N.Y.

Jim Hamilton, a longtime baseball columnist and newsroom employee for the Oneonta Daily Star, died on May 4, 2003, at the age of 75.

Hamilton continued to write for the newspaper up until a few weeks before his death. Hamilton, whose baseball column appeared each Saturday during the season, was respected for his encyclopedic knowledge of the game's history.

Prior to his career in writing, Hamilton served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
