He hit .264 in his career with 22 home runs and 263 RBI. In 1947, he hit .286 with 3 home runs and 67 RBI. He also was named to the All-Star team that season. His career was put on hold during World War II when he served in Italy. On June 12, 1940, the Dodgers traded Haas, along with Carl Doyle, Ernie Koy and Sam Nahem to the St. Louis Cardinals for Joe Medwick and Curt Davis. He was traded again in Dec. 1947 when the Reds sent him to the Phillies for Tommy Hughes. |
