Rose M. Gacioch

Rose M. "Rosie" Gacioch, who played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, died Sept. 9, 2004 at a nursing home in Clinton Township, Mich. She was 89.
Her career in the AAGPBL began in 1944 with the South Bend Blue Sox. She was traded to the Rockford Peaches after that season and would play for that team from 1945 to 1954.
According to her obituary, she led the league in triples in 1946 as an outfielder. In 1948, she started pitching and, in 1951, she won 20 games.
According to sources, she pitched a no-hitter in 1953 and she was a member of the AAGPBL's All-Star team from 1952-1954.
Following her baseball career, she worked as a press
operator in Rockford, Ill., until she retired in 1978 and moved to Michigan.
