James R. Devlin, a catcher who appeared in a single major league game, died on Jan. 15, 2004 in Bloomsburg, Pa.
His lone appearance in the major leagues came on April 27, 1944 when the 21-year-old catcher was hitless in a single at-bat for the Indians. In 1944, he played for the Baltimore Orioles team that won the championship in the International League.
According to his obituary, he was a chemical operator with Merck until his retirement.
