Mike Derrick, who was born in Columbia, S.C., played in part of one season in the major leagues with the Boston Red Sox in 1970. In 24 games, Derrick collected 7 hits in 33 at-bats. He struck out 11 times and drove in five runs. Derrick signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1962 as an amateur free agent. In December 1969, he was selected by the Red Sox from the Detroit Tigers in the Rule 5 Draft. |
