John Buzhardt finished his 11-year career in the major leagues with a record of 71-96 and a 3.66 ERA.

His career included three seasons with ERAs under 3.01, but his overall record reflects the fact that he pitched mostly for teams with losing records.  From 1960-1962, he pitched a combined total of more than 500 innings and posted a combined record of 19-46.

His career included stops with the Chicago Cubs (58-59), Phillies (60-61), Chicago White Sox (62-67), Baltimore (67) and Houston (67-68).

His two best seasons came with the White Sox when he finished 10-8 with a 2.98 ERA in 1964 and a 13-8 record with a 3.01 ERA in 1965.
