Paul Burris, a catcher who played in 69 games in the major leagues over four seasons, died on Oct. 3, 1999 in Charlotte, N.C. He was 24 years old when he debuted with the Boston Braves in 1948. He played in two games that season, collecting two hits in four at-bats. He appeared in the majors again in 1950 and in 1952 with Boston and in 1953 after the Braves moved to Milwaukee. His most productive season came in 1952 when he hit .220 in 168 at-bats with 2 home runs and 21 RBI. |
