Jack Brewer, a pitcher who debuted with the Giants on July 15, 1944, died on Nov. 30, 2003 in Sun City, Calif.

Brewer played for the University of Southern California from 1938 to 1940 and, after his discharge from the Navy in 1944, made his debut with the Giants.

In parts of three major league seasons, Brewer posted a 9-10 record and a 4.36 ERA in 43 games.

His most productive season came in 1945 when he pitched 159.2 innings for the Giants. He was 8-6 that season in 28 games (including 21 starts) and struck out 49 while posting a 3.83 ERA. He also was fifth in the National League with 14 home runs allowed.
