Charles Bowles, who pitched for the Athletics in 1943 and 1945 died on Dec. 23, 2003 in Hickory, N.C.
He made his debut with Philadelphia on Sept. 25, 1943 and pitched 2 complete games that season, finishing 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA. He allowed six earned runs and 17 hits.
In 1945, he reappeared in the majors, pitching 33.1 innings in eight games. That season, he did not fare as well, finishing 0-3 with a 5.13 ERA. He allow 19 earned runs and three home runs.
