Stew Bowers, who pitched briefly in the major leagues with the Red Sox, died on
Dec. 14, 2005 in Havertown, Penn.

He made his debut with Boston in 1935 and pitched 15 games between 1935 and
1936. His career numbers include a 2-1 record and a 4.60 ERA in 29.1 innings
pitched. He also had a single appearance in 1937 as a pinch runner.

He played baseball for Gettysburg College and was signed by the Boston Red Sox.

He served in the military during World War II. He later worked for American
Insulator Company and for Ford Motor Company.
