Dick Bogard

Dick Bogard, who was serving as the Rangers' special assistant for scouting operations, died on Aug. 29, 2003. He was 66.
Bogard had been battling cancer.
The Rangers had hired Bogard in January after he had spent 18 years with the Oakland As. Bogard was responsible for the signings of Walt Weiss, Jason Giambi and Ben Grieve.
His career in professional baseball spanned 47 years.
