John Boozer spent parts of 7 seasons in Major League for the Philadelphia Phillies. In his last two seasons, he saved a combined 11 games.

One of his most notable events came on May 1, 1968. Boozer was ejected from a game between the Phillies and Mets at Shea Stadium for throwing spitballs. The ejection came, oddly, during the pre-game warm-up.

Boozer was the second player in major league history to be ejected after the spitball became illegal in the 1920 season.

One of his most productive seasons came in 1963 when he pitched 83 innings for the Phillies, recording a save and a 3-4 record and compiling a 2.93 ERA.

Boozer died at the age of 47 from Hodgkin's disease.
