He was 22 years old when he debuted with the Philadelphia Phillies on June 10, 1939. He hit .289 that season in 211at-bats with three home runs and 13 RBI. He did not appear in the majors again until 1944 when he was 27 years old. That season, he hit .351 for Brooklyn in 131at-bats with a home run and 25 RBI. |
