John Blatnik, an outfielder who played in three seasons in the major leagues, died on Jan. 21, 2004 in Lansing, Ohio. He was 82. According to reports, he died after an extended illness.
Blatnik debuted with the Phillies in 1948 and hit .260 with six home runs and 45 RBI in 121 games. However, he would only play in 17 more games over the next two seasons of his career.
